Founded in 1931 through the living will of Dr. Stephen Babcock, inventor of the butterfat test, Babcock House is a cooperative where 24 UW students live together, guiding their future by their own responsible decisions. Dr. Babcock had a dream of creating a truly unique organization of strong relationships and student responsibility, highlighted by academic and social success, and we're continuing this tradition 75 years later.
The House itself is a historic building located at 1936 University Avenue, as little as five minutes from the College of Ag & Life Sciences classes and less than five minutes from Camp Randall, situated only 3 blocks away.
The Babcock Tradition has been sustained by the twin pillars of Affordable Quality and Student Relationships. With the net rent at $400 per month, including prepared meals and everything else, Babcock House is a spectacular deal. With a recent large-scale renovation, the quality is fantastic. And with the likely potential of many life-long relationships, Babcock House fosters a unique bond among its 500+ members, both current and alumni.
If you're considering UW-Madison, or know someone that is, please give us some thought and consideration. We guarantee it will be worthwhile!
