Kody Habeck

Board Position: Faculty Advisor

Hometown: Jefferson, WI

Years in House: 2006-2008

Occupation: Biological Systems Engineering at UW-Madison

About me

I am a former house member who lived in the house from 2006 to 2008 and stayed active with the house until graduating my second time in 2011. I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Biological Systems Engineering (BSE) with an emphasis in Machinery Systems. I am currently a Teaching Faculty for the Biological Systems Engineering department where I run a student and research fabrication shop as well as teach BSE courses. I live in Jefferson, Wisconsin on my family farm. Earlier this summer Theresa and I welcomed our son, Kayce, into the world. In addition to our son, we have two additional four legged family members, Banjo and Nova.

In my free time I am an avid deer hunter, both archery and gun. Nova, our German Shorthair, also enjoys going pheasant hunting with me. I also enjoy woodworking as well as metalworking. I recently started my own small business “Milky Way Metalworks, LLC” where I design and make custom plasma cut signs on my CNC plasma cutter. If that wasn’t enough to keep me busy, I also love the winter when I can get out snowmobiling. I am an active member in my snowmobile club and am a DNR certified Snowmobile Safety Course instructor.

In addition to serving as the Faculty Advisor for Babcock house I am also the Faculty Advisor for a small engines club on campus and assist with the Quarter Scale Tractor team on campus. To get more students active in the fabrication shop I also started a biweekly shop night for BSE students to come in and fabricate personal projects. I look forward to taking on this role and giving back to Babcock House which gave so much to me as a college student.
